My New Favorite: ROCOCO

If you don't know about ROCOCO, start learning and get into it. The moment I laid eyes on the bright colors and crazy patterns, it was love at first sight. The company is based out of Mexico City, which breaks my heart (I've never been good with long distance relationships), but they do a great job at showcasing their fabulousness on their website. Now, without further ado, I give you... ROCOCO.

Chicken Little

Okay, I'm the first one to admit that I may be a tad obsessed with my animals. But, I don't think that's a bad thing. Yes, I talk to them and try to rationalize with them. Yes, my dogs have their own car seat. Yes, the last two chicks I got slept with me for the first couple of nights (they wouldn't stop peeping unless they were curled up on my neck). Maybe I'm turning into that crazy lady on the block who all of the kids are afraid of, I don't know. What I do know is that I have the four best chickens around. Each one of them has their own distinct personality, likes and dislikes and mannerisms. I am one lucky chicken mama...

DANNY
She is my little coo-er and a blueberry addict. Danny loves sitting on my shoulder and likes to peck at her sister, Sasha. No flower pot is safe when she is around.

SANDY
If you're a Grease fan, you would know that she was brought home at the same time as Danny. She is a sassy-pants and the head honcho. If I sit down outside, she will find a way to get on my lap. Sandy is absolutely a mama's girl, but she won't hesitate to snap at me if I do something she doesn't like.

BUFFY
My little gentle giant. She is by far the biggest of my chickens. You can actually hear her stomping on the deck. And yet she is the sweetest thing ever. Buffy loves following my dog, Ruby, around and being held.

SASHA
She is my little trickster. When Sasha was a chick, she actually jumped on my dog's back and rode her around like a horse. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen! She got her name because for some reason, I could see her as a Russian spy. Sasha was the first thing that popped into my head.

As far as I'm concerned, everyone should have chickens. If you are interested in becoming a chicken parent, definitely check out Urban Farm Store on 20th and Belmont. These people are gurus of backyard chickens, gardening, canning, etc. I get all of my supplies and chicks from them.

Guest Blog: My Dream Home Would Have to Have...

The lovely and talented Nancy Marcus of Marcus Design, recently asked me to guest blog for her "My Dream Home Would Have to Have..." series.

It was not an easy task to pick just one thing, but after much thought, I was able to choose tufted sofas as my must have.

You Callin' Me Yellow?

Up until recently, I've never been a big fan of yellow. I don't know how or when I became a hater, I just did. Maybe it's because if I wear yellow, I look like I've got a mean case of Hepatitis with a side of Jaundice.  But as of late, I have seen the error of my ways. I can't seem to get enough yellow. Especially when it's combined with navy blue and/or gray. Yummy! Below are some of my favorite inspirational yellow tidbits. Enjoy.

DIY Bathroom Organizer

What do you do with an old spice rack (Kind of sounds like a crappy folk song I had to sing in chorus involving a drunken sailor.)? If you're me, you make it into a totally girly bathroom organizer. That's madness, you say? No, my friend, it is not.
Exhibit A. One somewhat boring and unappealing spice rack I picked up at Value Village for a whopping $2.99.

Exhibit B. A beautiful bathroom organizer fit for a queen.

Supplies Used:
plain card stock
scrapbooking paper
Tacky Glue
sand paper
glue stick
gold spray paint
primer
black tassels
black gem trim
small gold hooks
super small nails

This was definitely a one day project. I lightly sanded it, sprayed primer and then paint. Once it was completely dry, I nailed on the back, which consisted of gluing some scrapbook paper to card stock. After that, I glued on the black trim and tassels and screwed in the gold hooks. Simple as that. Happy crafting!
