25 Days of Christmas CoCo Style - Day 1: Candy Canes

I'm a sucker for candy canes. They're pretty, scream Christmas and make your breath minty fresh. So what better way to start off 25 Days of Christmas CoCo Style? I did a little research on the origin of candy canes, and here's what I found...

Around the seventeenth century, European-Christians began to adopt the use of Christmas Trees as part of their Christmas celebrations. They made special decorations for their trees from foods like cookies and sugar-stick candy. The first historical reference to the familiar cane shape goes back to 1670, when the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany, bent the sugar-sticks into canes to represent a shepherd's staff. The all-white candy canes were given out to children during the long-winded nativity services.

It's Thanksgiving Yo!

Only 24 short hours before the overeating begins and I couldn't be happier. I'm ready for leggings, a baggy shirt and more comfort food than any woman should ingest. I'll be packing up the dogs and heading down to my Dad's, so I don't have to worry about creating a one-of-a-kind designer centerpiece.
